The Arizona Cardinals have appointed Mike LaFleur as their new boss, with the LA Rams OC agreeing to a 5-season deal, the franchise revealed.
Arizona met with the Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak yesterday, but he is the favorite to become Las Vegas head coach after the Super Bowl, so the Cardinals picked another OC in the NFC West.
“During our interviews for the head coaching vacancy, we met amazing candidates and learnt something from each of them,” the Arizona owner shared. “At the end of the procedure, we chose Mike LaFleur as he has all the qualities to lead our organization to success as a manager. Mike is highly intelligent and understands this game in detail.”
“I’m so happy to have the chance to become the boss of the Arizona Cardinals, and I want to thank the owner and the GM for this chance,” LaFleur wrote. “Having played against them in the division, I know how talented the footballers are in this team and can’t wait to meet them and start working together.”
Mike replaces Jonathan Gannon, who was dismissed as the Cardinals’ head coach at the beginning of January.
The #AZCardinals plan to hire #Rams OC Mike LaFleur as their new head coach, per me and @TomPelissero.
A bright young offensive mind whose brother is also the coach of the #Packers, Lafleur stood out early in the process. After due diligence, AZ makes the move. pic.twitter.com/HF9z79zJmE
