Michael Carrick will remain the manager of Man United for their trip against Chelsea in the upcoming weekend.
The chiefs will give Carrick a chance to turn things around at the Red Devils after a dismal beginning to the season.
The English manager oversaw training today as the club from Old Trafford looks to end a run of 8 games without a victory in all tournaments when they face the Blues on Saturday.
Last weekend’s 3-0 loss against Bournemouth at Old Trafford plunged Michael’s future into doubt, with the Red Devils sitting 1 place above the relegation zone.
Manchester United’s hierarchy have explored the possibility of replacing the English manager, with former Magpies head coach Eddie Howe and ex-Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann among the favorites.
Michael took interim charge at the beginning of 2026 after Ruben Amorim’s departure, and he was rewarded with the permanent job in May after securing UCL qualification as he led the Red Devils to a 3rd-place finish.
But things look awful since the beginning of the new season, as Man United have won only 1 of their 8 EPL games so far.
🚨 𝗡𝗘𝗪: Manchester United had planned to SACK Michael Carrick before the game vs Chelsea but FAILED to find a replacement.
