Toronto Raptors leader Kawhi Leonard is expected to miss several weeks due to swelling in his left knee.
An MRI on Kawhi’s knee revealed no structural damage, but both sides will use the time to ramp up the player. The star had an uncommon offseason, as he could not join Toronto until after a resolution was reached in the league’s probe into the Clippers’ salary cap circumvention case.
Kawhi used social media to share that he is frustrated to be out.
“Without a doubt, it is always unpleasant to be unable to play,” the Raptors star wrote on X. “I returned to fight with this organization, and my priority is to get back at 100%. Toronto, I’m very thankful for the love that I received since my return. Will see you soon again on the court.”
The problem is with Kawhi’s left knee. Leonard has previously had issues with his right knee, having multiple procedures for his meniscus and ACL. The Raptors revealed the player will be reevaluated in 7 days.
In 2 matches in the current campaign, Kawhi is averaging almost 20 points, 8 boards, and 4 steals.
The Raptors announced that Kawhi Leonard will undergo a treatment and rehabilitation program to address swelling in his left knee. Medical imaging revealed no acute injury, and he will be re-evaluated in one week. https://t.co/nCXKfMFz0Z
