Antonio Rudiger claimed that his former team Chelsea look completely different from what they were, when he left them last summer for a move to Real Madrid.
The 30-year old spent 5 season with the London club, winning the Champions League and Europa League. However, the Blues have become a pale shadow of themselves under the new ownership of Todd Boehly. Many new players have been attracted to the club with very little effect and Chelsea currently find themselves in a depressing 11th spot in the table with just 39 points from 30 games.
However, one small light in the tunnel for Chelsea is their performance in the Champions League. Despite their woes they still find themselves in the competition after an inspiring performance saw them knockout Borussia Dortmund in the last 16. Now they face the monumental task of defeating current holders Real Madrid in the 1/4 finals in a repeat of the last year’s tie at the exactly the same stage.
Rudiger has warned his club and teammates that they shouldn’t underestimate the Blues despite their awful performances of late.
“It has changed a lot and I don’t really know what to expect… It doesn’t look much like the team I played for.” he said in front of Marca
“I expect quality, because they are very good players, but I don’t know what else we can find. It won’t be an easy game, but we are Real Madrid.”
