Chelsea eliminate Aston Villa from FA Cup at Villa Park

The Blues bounced back with a huge victory after a disappointing result in the Premier League.

Chelsea won against Aston Villa 3-0 at Villa Park in a replay after the 1st match finished 0:0 in London, and the North London side advanced to the 1/8 finals of the tournament.

The victory was very important for Pochettino as rumors began to circle about his dismissal after the Blues were humiliated at Stamford Bridge 4-2 by Wolverhampton during the weekend, and the team dropped below the top 10 teams in the Premier League.

Conor Gallagher scored the opening goal in the 11th minute after Noni Madueke’s assist gave the away side the lead. Nicolas Jackson netted a header in the 21st minute after Malo Gusto’s cross to double the Blues lead at Villa Park as Chelsea finished the 1st half with a 2-goal lead.

Enzo Fernandez scored a phenomenal goal from a free kick in the 54th minute, which means that Unai Emery’s side would need a miracle to win the match and advance in the tournament as such a thing didn’t happen.

Moussa Diaby scored in the extra time for Aston Villa, but it was already too late for the home team to avoid elimination.
