Friday’s deadline to guarantee Chris Paul’s $30 million contract for the next season with the Golden State Warriors will be extended to the start of free agency on Sunday, according to multiple reports.
ESPN Sources: Golden State and Chris Paul intend to move back the date to guarantee the $30 million on his 2024-2025 contract to the start of free agency on Sunday. Deadline was originally today. This gives Warriors time to keep exploring trades.

The reason is that Warriors want to buy themselves additional time to explore potential trade options, as reported by ESPN.
Paul is entering the final season of the four-year, $120 million contract he initially signed with the Phoenix Suns before the 2021-22 season. The 39-year-old veteran point guard was traded from the Suns to the Washington Wizards just over a year ago and subsequently moved to the Warriors two weeks later.
During the last season with the Warriors, Paul played in 58 games, starting in 18 of them. He averaged 9.2 points and 6.8 assists in a career-low 26.4 minutes per game.
