"The deal is done, signed", he said in an interview with Fox News

Conor McGregor has officially announced his long-awaited return to the UFC, nearly four years after his devastating leg injury against Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

The Irish superstar revealed that he will compete next June in the historic event hosted at the White House to mark the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. McGregor, who previously expressed interest in headlining the gala against Michael Chandler, confirmed the deal in a Fox Sports interview.

“The deal is done, signed, executed. Negotiations are over. McGregor will be competing at the White House for America’s 250th anniversary,” he stated.

UFC President Dana White had already hinted that McGregor was the early favorite to headline the celebration, though he had noted that White House fights would not take place until February. McGregor emphasized his close communication with White and highlighted his status within the sport.

“Dana and I are in constant communication. We’ve done an incredible business together. I’m the highest-scoring fighter of all time in the Ultimate Fighting Championship,” McGregor said.
