Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice in his nation’s 2-2 draw against Hungary today, securing another record in his legendary career.
The Portuguese forward, who is 40 years old, is now the all-time leading goalscorer in the World Cup Qualifiers. The 5-time Ballon d’Or winner has scored 41 times during the qualifiers for the World Championship, as nobody has netted more than him.
Selecao conceded the 1st goal vs. Hungary at home, but Cristiano tied the result only 14 minutes later, and he did so once more before the end of the 1st half. However, they failed to win the match as Dominik Szoboszlai scored late for the 2-2 draw.
Before today’s game for his nation, Cristiano Ronaldo had the same number of goals as Carlos Ruiz from Guatemala, but now the ex-Real Madrid superstar is alone at the top, 2 goals ahead. He is also with 5 more goals than his biggest competitor as the best footballer in the last decade, as Leo Messi is 3rd in those standings with 36 goals.

Cristiano had the chance to break the record a few days ago when he had the chance to do it from a penalty, but missed it. However, Portugal won that match with a late goal, and that didn’t affect him.
