Dani Alves’ trial for alleged sexual assault to begin tomorrow

After spending a year in jail in Spain, the Brazilian football star Dani Alves will go on trial on Monday for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at a Barcelona nightclub.

The ex-Barca defender is accused of sexually assaulting the woman on December 30^th, 2022. Alves denies the allegations and will face a trial in the city where he became a football superstar. The procedure will begin tomorrow and go through Wednesday.

The prosecutors are aiming for a 9-year prison sentence for the Brazilian, while the lawyers of the woman demand 12 years.

Dani (40) was arrested at the end of January 2023 after the Brazilian visited Spain. A court demanded Alves to be jailed.
