Follow usAfter spending a year in jail in Spain, the Brazilian football star Dani Alves will go on trial on Monday for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at a Barcelona nightclub.
The ex-Barca defender is accused of sexually assaulting the woman on December 30th, 2022. Alves denies the allegations and will face a trial in the city where he became a football superstar. The procedure will begin tomorrow and go through Wednesday.
The prosecutors are aiming for a 9-year prison sentence for the Brazilian, while the lawyers of the woman demand 12 years.
Dani (40) was arrested at the end of January 2023 after the Brazilian visited Spain. A court demanded Alves to be jailed.
The Brazilian changed his testimony several times during his time in jail first, Alves denied everything but later admitted that he had sex with the victim, but everything was after a mutual agreement.
