Novak Djokovic is back on the Masters 1000 stage. After skipping the last three events in the series, the 24-time Grand Slam champion will return at the Shanghai Masters, where he has won four times.
The Serbian began the season competing in the early Masters events, but the results were far from his best. He fell in the second round at Indian Wells, Monte Carlo, and Madrid, while his best run came in Miami, where rising star Jakub Mensik stunned him in the final after winning two dramatic tiebreaks.

Djokovic skipped Rome, opting instead for the ATP 250 in Geneva. That decision paid off, as he secured his 100th career singles title, becoming only the third man in the Open Era to reach the milestone, behind Jimmy Connors (109) and Roger Federer (103).
Since then, Djokovic has limited his appearances to the majors, reaching the semifinals at Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open. He also sat out the Canadian and Cincinnati Opens, focusing on building form and fitness ahead of New York.
Now, attention shifts to Shanghai, where it will be his 14th appearance at the event, which he first won in 2012 in a thrilling three-set battle with Andy Murray.
