Novak Djokovic continues to defy time at the top of world tennis. The Serbian great with record 24 Grand Slam titles under his belt, remains competitive with the sport’s younger stars thanks to an almost obsessive approach to his health and recovery.
Even after setbacks, including knee surgery that threatened his 2024 Wimbledon campaign, Djokovic has found special methods to keep himself in peak condition. from so-called “pyramid water” in Bosnia to physio-made “magic potions”. Speaking to TheTennis101, Djokovic explained that every day begins with gratitude. “The very moment I wake up is always a prayer. It’s always an expression of gratitude first of all for being alive and having another chance to live that day.”
Hydration follows, with a carefully prepared mix of lukewarm water, lemon, and salt, topped off with a tailored electrolyte formula. Breakfast is typically light and nutrient-dense. “I like to have fruits and smoothies, juice, or something to get some vitamin, multivitamin inside,” he said.
“Mixed berries, dates are my favourite. I love dates, dates all day! I would add some hemp seeds, different seeds and stuff like this. Superfoods, maca powder, spirulina—although not great tasting!”
Djokovic also added that he has never embraced coffee. “No, no, I don’t take coffee,” he admitted. “I would maybe drink a green tea every once in a while that has caffeine.”
