The Eagles' historic game in Sao Paolo will mark the NFL's return to Friday night action on opening weekend

Commissioner Roger Goodell announced on Monday that the Philadelphia Eagles will host the NFL’s inaugural regular-season game in Brazil on Friday, September 6, following the opening day of the 2024 season. During a comprehensive news conference held inside the Las Vegas Raiders’ locker room, Goodell covered various topics, including gambling, officiating, diversity, the Rooney Rule, and even delved into unrelated matters such as Taylor Swift’s connection with Travis Kelce.

The Eagles’ historic game in Sao Paolo will mark the NFL’s return to Friday night action on the opening weekend after a 54-year hiatus. The last time the league scheduled a game on a Friday during the opening weekend was on September 18, 1970, when the Los Angeles Rams hosted the St. Louis Cardinals.

Scheduled to take place at the Corinthians Arena, the home stadium of Brazilian soccer team SC Corinthians, the game will be played at a venue that previously hosted matches during the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics. The specific opponent for the Eagles, as well as the kickoff time, will be disclosed closer to the release of the 2024 schedule later this spring.
