Formula One directors decided to ban overtaking in the pit lane. The FIA’s decision comes after Max Verstappen’s actions in the second free practice session at the Yas Marina circuit.
The Dutchman made his way and overtook several cars at the exit to the tunnel. Verstappen’s actions were not a violation of the rules, for which he was not investigated. On the other hand, the fact that this could create a danger due to the tight way was taken into account by the stewards.
Race director Niels Wittich today banned pit overtaking for the remainder of the weekend in Abu Dhabi. In this way, a repetition of yesterday’s events will be avoided.

“Overtaking is prohibited at the pit exit. An exception is made only if a car does not slow down for an obvious problem.”, he said.
