The English Football Association is set to withdraw its support.

The English football governing body is set to write to FIFA president Gianni Infantino, withdrawing its support after the fallout from his scrapped plans to sell off stakes in FIFA tournaments to private investors.

That happened after UEFA threatened legal action over the proposals and Wales publicly withdrew backing for Gianni’s bid to continue to serve in his position in the future.

The current FIFA president had already received a huge backlash from football governing bodies in Europe, North and Central America, and the Caribbean, with UEFA and CONCACAF sharing statements criticizing the plans.

Gianni wanted to sell part of FIFA competitions to private investors as the packages would not be controlled, but would allow them to earn a lot of money.

After the huge backlash, especially in Europe and with UEFA, now the FA will publicly distance itself from Infantino and tell him that they will not support him for another mandate as FIFA president.
