The Spaniard played at the highest level for 20 seasons as he was part of Barcelona and also played for the North London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.
“Unfortunately, the time has come for me to stop playing professional football,” the midfielder shared on social media.
“From my first days with the Catalan club, the Gooners, Barcelona again, the Blues, Monaco, and Como, I was happy during each period. From triumphing in the World Cup and the Euros to lifting each trophy in England and Spain and nearly all the European trophies, it has been an amazing experience I’ll never forget.”
Cesc played for Barcelona in his youth career before switching to London to join Arsenal, where he made his professional debut and played 303 matches for the team from 2003 to 2011.
