The New York Giants are expected to start QB Jameis Winston vs. the Green Bay Packers at the past weekend.
Starter Jaxson Dart is in the concussion protocol as the franchise from the Big Apple returns to training today and most likely will be sidelined for the upcoming match.
Winston will start in front of veteran Russell Wilson on the depth chart as the 1st major decision under interim coach Mike Kafka, who took over when Brian Daboll was dismissed at the beginning of the week. Mike has worked closely with the QBs in the current campaign as the assistant head coach/offensive coordinator.
Jameis, who is 31 years old, will be appearing in his 1st match since Week 15 of the past campaign for the Browns. Winston inked a 2-year, 8 million dollar contract with New York, but has been 3rd in the hierarchy since then.
The Giants plan for Jameis to be the reserve QB behind Dart in the next campaign. Wilson inked a 1-year, 10.5 million dollar deal that expires at the end of the campaign.
