That means that the star running back could become an unrestricted free agent for the 1st time in his career.
A 2nd straight tag for Saquon would cost over 12 million dollars. The player shared in the past that he doesn’t want to be tagged.
The running back (27) appeared in the past campaign on an adjusted franchise tag that netted him 10.1 million dollars after the 2 parties failed to reach an agreement on a long-term contract.
The GM of the NFL franchise from the Big Apple, Joe Schoen, admitted a few days ago that Barkley’s franchise tag wasn’t “off the table” because the 2024 salary cap was higher than initially expected by the teams.
Barkley rushed for just 962 yards and 6 TDs for New York in the past campaign, missing 3 matches with an ankle problem that he sustained in a Week 2 victory against the Arizona Cardinals.
Saquon claimed that he wants to spend his career with the Giants but refused to ink a deal in the past campaign that would have guaranteed him 23 million dollars.
