Jonathan Marchessault and Shea Theodore proved to be the hero for Vegas as they notched home 2 goals in the shootout to help their team snatch victory.
Paul Cotter and William Carrier scored in regulation, while goaltender Adin Hill stopped 37 shots. The Golden Knights are now 9-0-1, which is their best ever start.
The Canadiens outshot their opponent and were generally the more dangerous team, but the Stanley Cup winners manage to squeeze through and eventually steal the win.
“The one thing I can take from this game, we were emotionally challenged tonight with some of the calls,” Montreal coach Martin St. Louis said. “We knew were playing well. It just seemed like we were swimming against currents sometimes.”
