Despite being without their star player Ja Morant, the Memphis team prevailed

The Memphis Grizzlies edged out a stubborn Orlando Magic 113-108 on Tuesday night.

Desmond Bane scored 31 points for the Grizzlies, while Xavier Tillman added another 20.

The Memphis team were dominant in the first period, establishing a solid 17 points lead. From then on, the score was pretty much stable, but a late surge from Orlando in the fourth period gave the home team a real scare.

A 23-points lead evaporated quickly down to 8, before Bane and Tillman’s peace of individual brilliance on the offence helped the Grizzlies hold on to the win.

With this result, they extend their tally to 33 home wins, seven in a row, which is a new franchise record.

All the more impressive made the absence of their star player Ja Morant, who was sidelined with right thigh soreness. Head-coach Taylor Jenkins explained that it’s nothing serious and the the decision to drop Morant is more of a precautionary to give the 23-year old the sufficient time to get fit for the next match against Los Angeles Clippers.
