Erling Haaland is in doubt for Manchester City’s clash against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on April 1, revealed his dad Alfie.
Haaland is enjoying an unbelievable debut Premier League season with the striker bagging 42 goals in all competition, just two shy of the record for most goals with two months of football still to play.
However, there were some bad news for the Norwegian in City’s last game against Burnley, when he pulled off the pitch with groin pain. The injury has affected Haaland’s national duties as he withdrew from their 2024 Euro qualifications.
The 22-year old now finds himself in race against time to be ready for the vital game against Liverpool. Hе left Norway’s training camp in Marbella, Spain, to see a doctor in Barcelona that his club has used on previous occasions, before returning back to his own house in the Costa del Sol city.
“Manchester City has a partnership with a hospital in Barcelona so he has been there for further checks and treatment.” Alfie told Norway television
“Now he has been [in Marbella] for a couple of days with the physio from the club. Firstly, I’m not a doctor and secondly, I think it’s ‘touch and go’, yes. You can’t just go two weeks without training and then jump right into a fight. There must be a progression there.”
“They can gamble on it, but if he doesn’t get proper training with the team, then he won’t play. It is about how he responds to treatment in the next few days. He needs a lot of care.”
