The Sky Blues beat the Hammers at home to top the Premier League.

Manchester City defeated West Ham United 3-0 at Etihad as Erling Haaland netted twice, and the Sky Blues are the new Premier League leaders as Arsenal could return to the top if they beat Everton later today.

Pep Guardiola’s side needed only 5 minutes to open the score. Erling Haaland secured a rebound and left no chance for the keeper to save his shot. Before the end of the 1st half, Man City already had 2-goal lead. This time, Haaland assisted Tijjani Reijnders, who, from close range, made it 2-0 in the 38th minute.

In the 69th minute, the Sky Blues’ lead became 3 goals. Erling Haaland, with his 2nd goal in the match, secured the 3 points for his team ahead of the final whistle.

Until the end of the clash, the only intrigue remained if the Norwegian forward would score a hat-trick, but he didn’t do so as he had a fantastic chance in the extra time, but his shot went just past the right post.

Man City are now 1 point ahead of Arsenal as the Gunners will face Everton later today and could return to the top of the EPL.
