The Miami team run riot in their quest to avoid play-in tournament

The Miami Heat won a convincing game against Philadelphia 76ers 129-101 to keep their hopes of staying in the Eastern Conference alive on Thursday night.

Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro were the star men for the Miami side as they both slotted home 24 points. Max Strus and Bam Adebayo each added 14 points to Heat’s tally.

The Miami team also registered 39 assists, which is tied with the franchise record, set against Philadelphia on June 15 1997.

The Heat started out strongly as they build a sizeable gap after the first period 41-31. Afterwards the margin gradually became larger as the Sixers never looked like catching up.

Joel Embiid scored 21 points for Philadelphia, despite coming off the bench, while James Harden added another 14. The Sixers have already secured a third spot in the Eastern Conference and a win on Thursday would have sealed a first-round matchup against Brooklyn.

As for Miami, they need to win their remaining two games against Washington and Orlando and hope Brooklyn lose their next two against Orlando and Philadelphia to move to the No.6 spot and avoid the play-in round. With the victory Miami clinched the Southheast Division title.
