The contract is worth 125 million dollars, tying him with the franchise all the way through his age-39 campaign.
“Altuve is an organization-type player, 1 of the best in Astros history,” owner Jim Crane shared at the owner’s meetings in Orlando, Florida. “And we believe that he will be a Hall of Famer in the future.”
Houston shared the news about the new deal on social media as they labeled their longtime 2nd baseman an “Astro For Life.” Jose was heading into his final campaign at 26 million dollars before the beginning of the free agency. His new contract starts in 2025 and takes him through 2029.
Altuve has established himself as a crucial player in the team’s most successful period, a 7-year period featuring 2 World Series trophies.
