Hubert Hurkacz is the 2023 Masters 1000 Shanghai champ

Hubert Hurkacz, world number 17, defeated world number 7, Andrey Rublev, 2-1 sets, and won the title at the Masters 1000 in Shanghai, China.

The Polish triumphed in the 1^st set 6-3 after converting 1 break point from 3 opportunities. His Russian opponent doesn’t have any chances to break his serve.

However, in the 2^nd set, Hubert was the one without break chances, and Rublev needed only 1, and he converted it to win the set 6-3.

In the final set, the 2 players had a single chance each for a break but both of them missed it, and the trophy was decided after a tiebreak. After a very dramatic tiebreak, in the end, Hurkacz won it 10-8 points to win the Masters 1000 as the 16^th seed at the tournament.
