After appearing in his 1st match in Brooklyn since being traded away exactly 1 year ago, Kyrie Irving admitted that his willingness to demand a trade was that “it was the right moment to get my own peace of mind and join another franchise where I was able to thrive.”
Kyrie Irving: “If I didn’t get injured versus the Bucks, do I still ask for a trade? If KD’s foot wasn’t on the 3-point line, are we talking about a different legacy here? If James (Harden) doesn’t ask for a trade? All of the woulda, coulda, shoulda.” pic.twitter.com/AYeWf2YTTl

“I mean, I don’t want to share any more details because I like protecting the people that I’ve worked with, even if it doesn’t work out,” Kyrie shared after notching 36 points and leading the Dallas Mavericks to 119-107 win vs. Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center.
“To repeat, I wish all those guys the best in the future. But discussions that needed to be had weren’t had before the trade deadline, and I don’t understand if anything needed to be salvaged.”
Kyrie’s trade happened several days before the other superstar, Kevin Durant, was also traded to Phoenix.
