The Brazilian sustained the problem in his team’s 3-0 FA Cup victory vs. Sunderland in the past weekend. He has played 23 matches in the current campaign, netting 3 goals and providing 4 assists.
Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe shared with the media today: “We have had to try and pick him up. Joelinton is our midfield driving force; it is very unpleasant news for us.”
The Magpies will play against Manchester City in a league clash at St James’ Park tomorrow.
Newcastle’s squad has been plagued with injuries so far this campaign, with the Brazilian becoming the 11th footballer to have to be away from the pitch for a long period.
Howe added that Joelinton is very disappointed and wants to be on the pitch and help his teammates.
