Sir Alex Ferguson would have kept the issue private, says the former Chelsea midfielder

John Obi Mikel has expressed his disappointment with the ongoing saga between manager Erik Ten Hag and Jaden Sancho at Manchester United.

The former Chelsea player thinks the Dutchman is in the wrong for publicly criticizing his player, stating that such thing would have never happened under the Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign.

The 23-year-old has been isolated from the squad and it was revealed the club are looking to offload him in the upcoming January transfer window.

“Everybody is going about Sancho not apologizing, I have a different view on that. My view is that the manager shouldn’t have said what he said in public,” Obi Mikel said.

“I wouldn’t come out publicly. When you listen to the ex-United players they’ve all said one thing: When things like this happen before during Sir Alex Ferguson, it was dealt with inside the dressing room, he handled it.”

“It doesn’t matter how he handled it but he handled it. If his decision was for the player not to be involved anymore, that’s it. You cannot come out publicly and criticize a player and say he wasn’t training really well.”
