Kim Kallstrom has been named the new Chief of Swedish Football Association on Wednesday.
The former Arsenal player will replace Andrea Mollerberg as part of a new organization, which will take charge over Swedish football.
He will step in his new role in January.
“The reason why I take this role is because I have been passionate about Swedish football since I was little and it has been an honor to play for the Swedish national team. It is an incredible opportunity to receive this trust after a career as a player.” Kallstrom said.
Sweden have failed to qualify both for the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024 and they will be looking to make severe changes in order to return to the big events.
Kallstrom himself has taken part in five major tournament, playing for Sweden between 2001 and 2016 and being their fifth most capped player in history with 131 appearances.
