Kings defeat Blues 7-6 to set new franchise record

It was an enthralling game, in which the Los Angeles team just came out on top

The Los Angeles Kings overcame a difficult opposition in the face of St. Louis Blues to narrowly win 7-6 and set a new franchise record of 12 straight games with a point on Saturday night.

Viktor Arvidsson scored twice for the second game in succession; Adrian Kempe also had two goals.

Alex Iafollo and Trevor Moore had one goal each in a breathtaking five-goal first period. Drew Doughty for a third straight game to help the Kings win their 10th game out of their last 12 outings. Goaltender Phoenix Copley made 16 saves.

For St. Louis Jordan Kyrou scored twice, while Brandan Saad, Justin Faulk, Pavel Buchnevich and Kasperei Kapanen each added one to the Blues’ tally. Goaltender Joel Hofel was substituted after conceding five goals from 17 attempts in the first period.

“It’s all wrong today,” Buchnevich said after the game.

“I think we’ve been last couple months super solid on PK. I don’t know, maybe their game, it doesn’t click.”

The Blues host Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night, while the Kings visit the Calgary Flames also on Tuesday night.
