The Los Angeles team prevailed in the end

The Los Angeles Kings came out on top against the Calgary Flames 5-3 in a hard-fought match on Saturday night.

Quinton Byfield was the big hero as his double proved critical for LA’s success.

Alex Laferriere and Pierre-Luc Dubois also scored, while goaltender Cam Talbot stopped 29 shots, as the Kings avoided their first three-game losing streak on home ice.

“You kind of sit on that last game that you play and, obviously, it’s good to get the win and kind of not sulk over the break,” Laferriere said.

Blake Coleman was the star man for the Flames with two goals on the power play. Rasmus Andersson also scored, while goaltender Jacob Markstrom made 28 saves from 33 shots.

The Flames ended their 3-game winning streak as they have already picked a point in 5 straight.

“I feel like we should have had two or three more wins on this stretch, and we left some points on the table,” Coleman said.
