Sacramento Kings player Malik Monk – 1 of the favorites for National Basketball Association 6th Man of the Year – has sustained a sprained right MCL and is expected to be out 4-to-6 weeks.
Malik, who sustained the problem after Luka Doncic landed on his knee in a defeat to the Mavs two days ago, will likely need his team to clinch the Western Conference postseason to return this campaign.
Sacramento is 8th in the Western Conference – half-game behind 7th Suns – and are now without guards Kevin Huerter (shoulder problem) and Malik for the final 2 weeks of the regular campaign at least.
The play-in tournament will start on April 16 with the 1st round from the playoffs starting 4 days after that.
The Kings guard has had his finest league campaign, averaging career-bests of over 15 points and over 5 assists and leading his organization when he comes from the bench.
Malik Monk this season:
15.4 PPG (career-high)
5.1 APG (career-high)
