The Sacramento Kings are keen on retaining Mike Brown as their head coach. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Kings’ management plans to offer Brown a new three-year contract valued at $21 million. With bonuses, his salary could potentially rise to $27 million.
However, there is currently no agreement between the two parties, as Brown is seeking an annual salary of at least $10 million. The Kings’ offer stands at $7 million per season over the next three years, falling short of Brown’s expectations.
Brown still has one year remaining on his current contract, which expires at the end of the 2024/25 season and includes an option for an extension. The 54-year-old coach has been with the Kings for the past two seasons and was named the NBA Coach of the Year in 2023 after leading Sacramento back to the playoffs.

Before his tenure with the Kings, Brown was an assistant coach for Washington, San Antonio, and Indiana. He also served as the head coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers, the LA Lakers, and returned to coach the Cavaliers for one season. Additionally, Brown spent six years on Steve Kerr’s staff with the Golden State Warriors.
