The goalkeeper of the Basque team, Unay Simon, informed the referee about what was happening and the match was immediately stopped. Doctors from both clubs went to the scene to intervene, but moments later returned to their benches while the spectator in question continued to be attended to by the doctor on duty.
After a few minutes of waiting and uncertainty, both teams made their way to the locker room tunnel, following the instructions of the referees.
At the time of the incident, Ernesto Valverde’s side were leading 1-0 thanks to a goal from Inaki Williams in the 6th minute.
