The franchise made the inking during their bye week, as that gave time to the veteran QB to adapt to their offense.
Matthew left the team’s Week 8 defeat against the Dallas Cowboys with an injury in his right thumb and did not appear in their next match vs. the Green Bay Packers. Stafford was replaced by QB Brett Rypien, who completed below 47% of his passes for 130 yards and a pick in his start.
Los Angeles waived Rypien yesterday.
Wentz played in the past campaign in Washington Commanders, but the veteran was released during the offseason with 2 years remaining on his deal.
Commanders traded for Wentz, giving 2 3rd round selections to Indianapolis in 2022, as well as exchanging 2nd round selections with Colts.
