The home side, who failed to win any of their four games after New Year, went ahead at Anfield after a blistering counter-attack in the 37th minute.
Lively Uruguayan Darwin Nunez played a cross into the box, Jordan Pickford was caught in no man’s land and Mohamed Salah made it 1-0 with an easy finish.
The Reds doubled their lead three minutes after the break – Trent Alexander-Arnold was played in by Mohamed Salah and the right-back picked out the Dutchman Cody Gakpo to tap in at the far post for his first Liverpool goal.
VAR has a look but the goal stands.

Liverpool climbed to ninth place with 32 points but the Jurgen Klopp’s side are still nine points behind fourth-placed Newcastle United.
Everton are 18th with 18 points, three above bottom club Southampton.
