He was sent off in the controversial Tottenham clash
Liverpool will appeal against Curtis Jones’ red card in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat against Tottenham. The midfielder was sent off for a foul on Yves Bissouma in the 26th minute after VAR intervened.
Referee Simon Hooper initially booked Jones for his tackle with a yellow card, but changed his mind. The 22-year-old midfielder will miss three games if the card is not overturned.
If the decision is confirmed, he will miss Liverpool’s Premier League games against Brighton, Everton and Nottingham Forest. It is possible that the penalty will be overturned in an attempt to soften the blow of the VAR mistake on Luis Diaz’s goal that was unrightfully ruled off.
