Liverpool, currently leading the table, may have to do without forward Darwin Nunez for their crucial Premier League clash against Arsenal this weekend, as indicated by manager Juergen Klopp on Friday. Despite Nunez’s full 90-minute play in Liverpool’s 4-1 victory over Chelsea on Wednesday, Klopp revealed that the player left the ground wearing a protective boot.
Klopp shared his concerns, stating, “I don’t know if Darwin is available or not because after 20 minutes somebody stepped on his foot, and it was very painful.” The manager explained that Nunez wore the boot after the game due to the discomfort and added, “He only took the boot off after the game because he didn’t want to see it before; he knew there was something, so he left the stadium in a boot, and it was not a football boot.”
Although the x-ray results showed no fractures, Nunez’s foot remains swollen. Klopp emphasized the uncertainty surrounding Nunez’s availability, mentioning, “Nothing broke, x-ray clear, but swollen. We have to see if he can get this foot back in the boot or not,” highlighting the uncertainty surrounding the forward’s participation in the upcoming match.
