Santiago Gimenez, who entered from the bench, scored the winning goal in the clash’s final minutes to help Mexico beat Panama and claim their 9th title at the Gold Cup after the national team allowed only 2 goals in the entire competition.
“With these achievements, they open opportunities,” Jaime shared after the match. ” I would love to be here. It would be at the helm of my national team in a World Cup and even more in a World Cup where we will play at home.
“If it’s my turn, it’s a dream; it’s a dream. What we achieved so far it’s a dream.”
Lozano was named an interim head coach just before the Gold Cup began in place of Diego Cocca, who was dismissed after he lost 3-0 to the USA in last month’s Nations League Finals.
