The Citizens are two points away from Arsenal and Liverpool

Manchester City asserted their dominance with a commanding 5-1 victory over struggling Luton Town, propelling themselves to the top of the Premier League table, at least temporarily.

City wasted no time, taking the lead within the first couple of minutes when Erling Haaland’s volley deflected off Luton’s Daiki Hashioka and found the back of the net.

Despite their early advantage, City had to wait until the second half to extend their lead, with Mateo Kovacic unleashing a powerful strike from the edge of the area to double their advantage.

Haaland further solidified City’s lead with a calmly taken penalty after Jeremy Doku was brought down by Fred Onyedinma in the box. Although Luton managed to pull one back through Ross Barkley, Doku ensured City’s victory with a fine solo effort, cutting in from the left and slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

To cap off their impressive performance, Doku turned provider for Josko Gvardiol, who scored a stunning goal, his second in a week, to seal City’s victory.

With this win, City moved two points clear at the top of the table, although Liverpool and Arsenal have the opportunity to reclaim the top spot with their matches on Sunday.
