Dan has a long-standing relationship with Ineos’ head of sport, Sir Dave Brailsford.
Discussions over compensation will be held between the 2 Premier League sides shortly.
If Ashworth joins the Red Devils, it would be another huge move by Inoes, whose ¼ ownership of the team from Old Trafford will become official in a few days.
Dan wants to change Newcastle with Manchester United as he worked very well with Brailsford during their time in the FA.
Ashworth has a reputation for being 1 of the best football directors in the UK and was part of England’s huge success at the youth level in 2017 when they triumphed with Under-17 and Under-20 World Cups.
After that, Dan was a crucial part of Brighton’s rise in the league as he decided to replace Chris Hughton with Graham Potter. Ashworth will be crucial in the club’s football process if he joins Manchester United.
