Manchester City are exploring potential replacements for goalkeeper Ederson, who has just one year remaining on his contract and has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia. According to “Football Insider,” Pep Guardiola and the club are preparing for the possibility of Ederson’s departure by considering several high-quality alternatives.
Currently, City have Stefan Ortega as a backup goalkeeper, but he is not viewed as a long-term first-choice option. Therefore, City are eyeing Milan’s Mike Maignan as a potential successor. The 28-year-old Frenchman has become a crucial player for AC Milan since his transfer from Lille in 2021, amassing 110 appearances and 44 clean sheets for the Rossoneri.
However, securing Maignan could be challenging, as Milan would be reluctant to let go of their star goalkeeper. As a result, City are also considering other options. These include Bento from Athletico Paranaense, Christos Mandas from Lazio, and Diogo Costa from Porto, ensuring they have multiple contingencies in place should Ederson leave the Etihad.
