Messi comes off bench in Argentina’s victory

Leo Messi came off the bench in the 1^st minutes of the 2^nd half of Argentina’s 1-0 victory against Paraguay in World Cup qualifying in Buenos Aires.

The team’s manager Lionel Scaloni, left Lionel, who had a leg injury until recently, out of the starting 11 for its 3^rd CONMEBOL qualifier thus far; as for his attack, the head coach chose Nico Gonzalez from Porto, Julián Álvarez from Man. City and Lautaro Martínez from Inter.

Nicolas Otamendi scored the 1^st goal in the match early in the match to give his nation the lead after the 1^st 45 minutes. Messi looked great during his 40 minutes on the pitch as he had a perfect chance to score, but he hit the post after a free kick in the final minutes of the match.

“I’m happy to be on the pitch again … It is always difficult when you come from the bench in such a tight match,” Messi claimed after the win. The Argentinian superstar added that he’s just satisfied that Argentina triumphed.
