Newcastle overtakes Manchester City in Paqueta race

Newcastle are considering making a £52m bid for West Ham midfielder Lucas Paquetа in an attempt to overtake Manchester City in the competition for the Brazilian.

Former AC Milan and Lyon midfielder was close to join the Citizens in the summer, but the reports about illegal betting from his side stalled the negotiations and he stayed at West Ham.

If the investigation against him does not find anything wrong on his part, he will most likely be sold as soon as the January transfer window, as he has already expressed an interest in changing teams. Paqueta has 46 games for the Hammers so far, scoring 6 goals and addin 8 assist as he won the Conference League last season.
