Callum sustained a pectoral muscle problem in the 3-2 league victory against Nottingham Forest this past weekend.
Wilson has netted 8 goals in 22 matches in all tournaments for the Magpies this campaign but has suffered with hamstring and calf problems.
“It’s without a doubt a big hit for him,” shared the Magpies’ head coach, Eddie Howe.
“It’s been a stop-start campaign for Wilson. We hope Callum is back before the end of the campaign.”
He played the match vs. Forest but used his shirt to make a sling after the end of the game.
“It was a strange problem. Wilson got in a tussle with the center-back at the end of the last game,” added Newcastle’s manager.
“We had it scanned and hoped initially Callum could play, but when he went to see a specialist, I think it was apparent quite early that Wilson needed it operating on.”
The Magpies, who are 7th in the Premier League, will welcome Bournemouth tomorrow.
