Boston started with a victory in the playoffs after the records in the regular season.

Brad Marchand notched his fifty-goal in the postseason, David Pastrnak and Jake DeBrusk netted the others, and Boston Bruins beat Florida Panthers at TD Garden in Boston, MA, to take the lead in the series.

Goaltender Linus Ullmark made 31 saves as Tyler Bertuzzi assisted twice for the victory. Captain Patrice Bergeron missed the match because of sickness, but his teammates got him covered.

Matthew Tkachuk notched the only goal for the Floridian franchise, as Alex Lyon stopped 26 shots and can be blamed for the Marchand goal.

The next clash from the series is on Wednesday again at TD Garden.

Boston topped the NHL records for both points and wins in the regular season and is among the big favorites to win the Stanley Cup. Panthers were the 1st seed last year in the East but now entered the playoffs as 8th seed.

It is the 1st playoff series between 1st seed from the current season against the last season’s top seed and Presidents’ Trophy winners since the prize was established in 1985-86.
