Green Bay suffered a major setback Thursday night, as head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that wide receiver Jayden Reed has been placed on injured reserve with a broken collarbone.
“He’s going to miss a lot of time,” LaFleur said after the Packers’ win over Washington. “Unfortunately, he broke his collarbone, so he’ll be down for quite some time. We’ll see how fast he can recover and heal. Certainly I would expect him back at some point this season, but obviously it’s a big blow to us. He’s a guy that is a catalyst for our offense and our football team. The energy he brings, he is a dog. He comes out there and he’s gonna compete, and he plays tough, physical, and he’s a playmaker.”

Reed suffered the injury on the opening drive while hauling in what looked to be a spectacular 39-yard touchdown. The play was denied by a holding penalty, and Reed left the field with a long-term injury.

Reed was a second-round pick in the 2023 draft for the Packers and he led in receiving last season with 55 catches for 857 yards at just 25 years old.
LaFleur acknowledged the loss but also pointed to the depth of his receiver group. “Fortunately for us, I feel like we have a pretty deep wide receiver room and there’s going to be opportunities there for other guys to step up and take advantage of it,” he said.
