Penn State has dismissed boss James Franklin after 12 years, the university revealed today.
James is owned almost 50 million dollars per his deal. Associate manager Terry Smith will replace him for the remainder of the campaign.
The news didn’t shock anyone as the school suffered a very unexpected defeat 2 weeks ago vs. UCLA in LA, a team that had not won any match before that and didn’t even hold a lead during the campaign.
After that, the Nittany Lions lost their consecutive match at home and 3rd overall when Northwestern beat them 22-21, and the fans at the stadium of Penn State demanded the head coach to be sacked. James Franklin’s team was more than 3 TDs favorite in that match, but still found a way to lose it.
At the beginning of the campaign, when Penn State’s losing streak started vs. Oregon at Happy Valley, James fell to 4-21 at home vs. AP top-10 opponents, including 1-18 vs. top-10 Big Ten teams.
