Detroit GM Troy Weaver and Drew Gross (player’s agent) successfully completed the deal at the summer league in Vegas. This is the franchise’s 1st rookie extension since owner Tom Gores bought the organization in 2021 and the 1st for Pistons since Jason Maxiell in 2008.
Isaiah (22) is a crucial part of the organization’s rebuild. The forward notched more than 11 points and had over 8 boards per match, beginning from the 1st minute on the court in 47 of 50 clashes before having a campaign-ending shoulder injury in March. The center had a career-high thirteen doubles-doubles in the past campaign.
Detroit re-inked Andre Drummond on a 5-year, 127 million dollar contract in 2016, but the center was a restricted free agent, not a rookie extension.
