Christian, a 1st-round selection in 2019, became a starter during his rookie campaign with the Miami Dolphins and started 77 matches during his 1st 5 campaigns.
In 2022, Wilkins made 98 tackles to set a single-campaign National Football League record for a DT. Since becoming part of the NFL, Christian, 28, has been 1 of the best run-stoppers in the league at his position, and his almost 40% run stop win rate since 2019 ranks 8th among qualified DTs.
The defensive tackle and Miami didn’t agree about a deal extension during the 2022 offseason. Dolphins main concern was his lack of success as a pass-rusher (11.5 sacks) compared to other elite defensive tackles.
Wilkins was much better in that component in the past campaign, tallying a career-high 9 sacks, which was 4th in the NFL among players in his position.
