David Seaman has shared his opinion on the David Raya – Aaron Ramsdale saga, by stating the latter is “too good to be a number two”.
Ramsdale has fallen down the pecking order since Raya’s loan move from Brentford in the summer and has, more or less, become second choice in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
That has affected the Englishman’s national career as well, as he remained an unused substitution in England’s latest Euro 2024 qualifying match against North Macedonia.
“If he’s not playing [for Arsenal], it’s going to affect his [England] chances,” Seaman said.
“Going into next summer, where Aaron is really pushing to become England goalkeeper – he needs to be playing.”
England’s manager Gareth Southgate has confirmed that he cannot promise Ramsdale a No.1 spot for the upcoming Euros in 2024 if he remains benched.
